Only In Israel

Ricky Martin's kaffiyah brings him to Israel.

It turns out that Ricky Martin was in Jordan a few days ago (all fans, please, get a life). And someone fooled him into putting a Kaffiyeh on him, with the word "Palestine" written on it, a picture of the Al Aqsa mosque and the entire map of Israel clearly marked as Palestine. Then they gave him a stand with a wooden carving marked "Palestine" again containing the map of the entire state of Israel. He had lots of pictures taken of him smiling stupidly at the camera, probably having no idea what he's holding or wearing.

Anyway, the moment he discover he did what was right, he went to the Israeli consul in NYC, appologized, and promissed to come to Israel during his next tour, oh, and he also tried to hit on him.
In an attempt to convince Mekel of his sincerity, Martin said that several of his good friends in Los Angeles are Israeli and that he had learned some Hebrew words from them.

He then turned to Mekel and said, “My dear" in Hebrew.

  • Those are some fans to have... you come and play for them and they make you their posterboy.

  • Hey you should give the guy a break. He may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, but at least he took the time to apologise.

  • I gotta go with maria

He obviously does feel bad about what he did and lived up to it. He didn't go out and try to BS something or become an anti-Israel figure.

He apologized and should be commeneded. It probably wasn't easy but he did it.

  • I agree... he was put in a kind of tough position, and he did the right thing, twice! (Apologize, then come to Israel to perform.)

Anyways, I'd like to know a little about other cases like this. I know the airhead Angelina Jolie came to Jordan to visit the so-called "refugees", but other than that, are there any cases like this?

  • I just came through your weblog and I was wondering if everyone’s life in Israel and Palestine was affected by the war.
Cauz I see that most of the posting here is about war.
Just wandering how’s your daily life!! I would be interested to get in depth with the situation over there.

  • I don't think Ricky Martin was pressured into posing with the Palestinian scarf. If anything, he was pressured into making amends with American Jews or "Israelis" because they got jealous. And no where in that quote did he say he was "sorry"- it looks more like something that was expected of him.

He can go ahead and do a mercy concert for the inhumane nation known as "Israel"- I'm just glad he performed wearing a Keffiyeh in Jordan- a concert which was intended! Go Ricky!

  • There's a diffrence between wanting and abolagated Rickey Martin wanted to do a concert in Jordan he most likely knew there's the beef between Arab and Jews did t care because of the moment and because some idiots got offended he was abolagated to do a concert in Israel that he canceled anyways oh poor israelis got offended that he wore a kaffiyah oh poor babies

  • This is gonna settle it once and for all

proves he never even intended to go near israel, let alone perform there but he was pressured into doing so so wouldnt be labeled a anti-semit
